Keeping healthy at 73, bushcutting for others

Florentina Ignacio (left), 73, visiting in the clinic.

At 73, Mrs. Florentina Ignacio is active bushcutting 12 houses a month.
But she does it out of love, without pay.

She has been bushcutting 6 days a week since 2010. She does it especially to help the elderly, shut-ins, or busy people who have to be at work and do not have time to tend their yards.

Sometimes she completes 4 houses a day, bushcutting in various villages, including Dededo, Macheche, and Mangilao.

She enjoys keeping her neighborhood clean. She also helps gather trash and takes it to the dump and covers the fees from her small monthly allowance.

“It’s my donation to the Lord,” she says, “for keeping me healthy and free of cancer.”

Florentina keeps her energy up with vegetable juice blends daily and tries to stick to a plant-based diet as natural as possible.

Living for others and being grateful to God help her stay happy and healthy while living life to the fullest each day.
